Ingle was on the top deck of a bus that was driving up a hill, he looked out of the window and there was a miniture little six-year old Arab kid being picked on by a street gang - they couldn't land a single punch on him! and Ingle fought to himself 'boy, that little kid can move!'. Not long after, the kid's father took him and his brothers to Ingle's gym and asked Ingle if he could learn them to box because they were being picked on and racially abused. That little kid was Naseem Hamed.

True story.
To answer the point. He was 7 when he started. And it was down to the fact he was the victim of racially motivated bullying at the school he went to.
Me and my cousin were watching his fight vs Kevin Kelley...
During his entrance..my cousin said,"This guy looks like a pansy that got picked on at school!"
He was right! lol
Lol yeah he did. But i would love to see him confront the bullys now. I still see Hamed as an idol and probably will do for most of my life, despite his shortfalls.
Why do you think Naz got bored with boxing? It's because he started so young. Roy Jones came very close to walking away from boxing in 1995/1996 so he had to take up bastketball, it's because he started at 10 years old.
17 is fine, I honestly wish I started in my 20's so that it would of been more of a challenge and training would never become lacklustre and would never get bored with it.
