And not only was Ricky Hatton the lineal champ at 140 lbs, he was also undefeated at 140 lbs. Floyd made him come up to 147 lbs to fight him and he lost, which he almost lost his first fight at 147 lbs to Collazo. So, Hatton was undefeated at 140 lbs and insisted that 147 lbs was too much and that 140 lbs was his correct and best weight...
Some people just cannot accept it when someone they don't like succeeds. It's too bad really but what you gonna do. I guess coming out of retirement to "fight the best, beat the best and become the best" (as Floyd Jr. and his team repeatedly stated) includes fighting a small great fighter in JMM and fighting Mosley then going on vacation. The fight with Clottey and Mosley for Pacquaio and Mayweather respectively was a perfect way to set up the super fight for November of 2010. Plenty of time to promote it properly and get the world buzzing. It just wasn't meant to be I guess. But I gotta say coming out of retirement fighting JMM and Mosley then disappearing again is not what I call "fighting the best, beating the best and becoming the best!"
