No, Arum would have said that if he didn't get knocked out he could have got his chance at Pacquiao.

Beating them on the scales is the strategy, that's why. Pacquiao doesn't duck anyone, but he is being a total b!tch about Marquez.

Berto possibly stops him... I know that seems drastic... but the size, speed, power, explosiveness of Berto would be a lot for JMM to overcome at 37 years old and two weight classes above his last fight.

On the flipside, it would be hard for JMM to hurt Berto.. he would have to land the most perfect punch right on the chin.. and even then, I'm not sure if the strength would carry over to welterweight.

Lets all remember to give Floyd Mayweather a pass for fighting JMM at WW now....

It's seems since Arum is saying its ok for WW's to fight JMM.... that must make it ok now. It's only wrong when Floyd does it. Got it.

You're a Manny nut-hugging fan, right? Justify this piece of crap fight for me. How does this fight make sense?

The Marquez money demands were excessive if you look at how many people paid to watch him fight Katsidis. Nobody but us hardcore fans even cared about that fight. It had must see TV written all over it however it did poorly sales wise. Considering that, it is hard to demand double your highest payday. And if you compare the sales of Mayweather vs JMM to Mayweather vs Mosley, Mayweather vs Mosley did much better at the gate (with higher ticket prices) and in PPV sales. Personally, I would love to see Pacquiao fight JMM at 140 or 142 lbs but more people will pay to see him fight Mosley (unfortunately)...

Makes perfect sense for everyone involved. HBO would pay good money for this fight. Marquez gets to show how he would handle a true welter who has power and speed, Berto fights his first marquee opponent... then the winner gets a mega millions winning lottery ticket (if they drop their promoters probably).
