Comments Thread For: Arum: Marquez's Demands Offended Pacquiao, Killed Fight

According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, Shane Mosley breaking away from Golden Boy Promotions had nothing to do with the overall decision of selecting him as Manny Pacquiao next's opponent for May 7 at the MGM Grand. The promotional feud between Arum and Golden Boy has carried over to their working relationship. No event since Pacquiao's fight with Ricky Hatton in May of 2009, has been co-promoted by the two companies. There are several pending lawsuits between the two promotional firms that relate to Pacquiao.

Not the first time Marquez has price himself out. He either doesn't want the fight or is just a complete moron.

No Arum. You steered pac to Mosley because you have a cut on both sides and would promote shane to fight cotto and margarito afterwards (should shane win) ... so more potential big money fights for TR.

      Its clear as day.
Marquez fight is bigger historically and financially.
Damn, arum is one slick businessman.

Arum said twice what he got for the Mayweather fight (3.2mil?)
So around 6-6.4mil, he is surely outpricing himself.

However, I don't know why a guy with a guaranteed 18mil + upside gets offended by that figure.

Pacquiao: I think I'd like to fight Marquez.
              Arum: Did you say Mosley?
Pacquiao: No, Marquez. We have unfinished business and we had two great fights.
Arum: Did you say Mosley, or did I hear you say Miguel Cotto for a rematch?
Pacquiao: Well, maybe Berto. He's a good, young fighter. He's very fast.
Arum: Mosley, that's what I thought you said.
Pacquiao: Bob, I think I definitely want the third fight with Marquez. That's what my coach, Freddie Roach, wants. That's what the fans want. That's what I want.
Arum: So if it's the fight with Mosley you want, then the fight with Mosley it shall be.
Pacquiao: Lock up Marquez, please. Let's get it done.
Arum: Fine, we'll get Mosley, whatever you say. You're the boss. Someone get me James Prince on the phone so we can lock this up.

While Arum was getting Mosley and his adviser, Prince, on the phone, boxing fans around the world were reaching for a barf bag.

Arum save the bull s**t lies already. No one believes them, you are quoted on video saying Mosley is past his prime. Lying is something you have become known for and i bet now you'll say during the promotions that Shane is dangerous and he still has it. Sorry Bobby boy boxing fans ain't ******. You been quoted as saying the you don't give a s**t what fans want. so, we don't give a s**t what you say.

Hard to believe Arum that JMM price himself out, Firstly a JMM fight brings more money for Pac because of their first 2 fights, Secondly we havent heard from JMM's side.

And thirdly Arum doesnt want the JMM fight period, He work with Mosley because Mosley has NO promoter, He would have to co-promote a Berto or JMM fight, Which he doesnt want to do.
