First time, Valero ducked Soto:
In August of 2009, Bob Arum proposed to have a Soto-Valero clash for the undercard of Pacquiao-Cotto, and Valero chickened-out. Valero packed up his stuff and flew out of the country.
At that time, Valero was living and training in Costa Mesa, California in a gym called South Coast Martial Arts Center (Costa Mesa, CA).
When Arum proposed to have them fight, Valero got scared, packed up his belongings and flew out of town (Costa Mesa, California).
Then he pretended to come back, and told INS officials that he had a DUI/Arrest Loaded Firearm arrest from earlier in the year in Texas.
So, the INS denied his entry, and Valero didnt have to come to Vegas to fight Soto.
Second time, Valero ducked Soto:
Then Arum re-scheduled Soto-Valero for Dec. 5th 2009, in Cancun, Mexico, that wasy Valero would not have INS VISA "issues", and again Valero chickened-out and ducked Soto.
So Arum cancelled the Dec. 5th show.
Third time, Valero ducked Soto:
Since Arum couldn’t get Valero to fight on Dec. 5th, in Cancun, Arum (again) re-scheduled the Soto-Valero fight for December 19th, 2009.
Again, Valero chickened-out .
So, Arum put Valero with a C-level easy fighter vs Hector Velazquez, while Soto fought Valero’s replacement-Jesus Chavez.
Fourth time, Valero ducked Soto:
In March of 2010, Soto sat ringside at the Valero-DeMarco fight in Monterrey, and after Valero beat DeMarco, Soto challenged Valero to a future fight, and again, Valero chickened-out and ducked Soto, by vacating that WBC Lighweight belt, and had the WBC out Valero “in recess”. Eventually Soto fought David Diaz for the vacant WBC 135lbs belt, cause Valero was too scared to defend it against Soto.
...The guy's been dead for months now.............

before Valero died, he ducked Soto many times.
Arum tried to have them fight last year on the Pac-Cotto undercard, and Valero left town(Costa Mesa, California).
Then Arum re-scheduled them many times, and Valero kept making excuses for not fighting Soto.
Thats why Arum had Valero fightb an easy opponent on Dec 19th with Hector Velazquez, while Soto fought replacement-Jesus Chavez.
Soto had tried to fight Miguel Acosta, after Valero had backed down, cause ACosta had just made a name for himself, by having beat Antillon.
But Acosta ducked Soto too, after Valero ducked Soto for a Dec. 19th showdown.
This why Arum called in Jesus Chavez as a "last-minute" replacement.
Soto knockdowned Chavez in the 1st round, but "played possum" and let him finish to the last bell.Comment
