Frank Warren talks about how Barrera's Handlers Kept him away from Naseem Hamed.....

yeah, warren and hamed were trying to catch a wounded fresh off a loss barrera, even warren says right there that barrera had a great handler because he kept him away, hell yeah he kept his fighter away after a loss, warren probably would've talked anyone else into that fight though, because warren didn't get him barrera's handler is great.
but this proves again how frank warren builds up his fighters and makes them look incredible, when in fact its' just slick match making at best, mostly it's obvious to anyone who is looking at it with the dollar in mind. warrens recipe: get names that are either not ready yet for that level, or catch names on the way down............. he just said how he does business right there.Comment

but barrera lost the first fight to junior jones by DQ, hardley got outboxed and it was his first loss, so its not like warren was trying to make a fight with a shot barrera. Barerra waited 4 yearsafter this before he finally faced off with Naz.Comment

he was knocked down twice, was losing pretty badly, because this was supposed to be his break out fight and jones boxed like he owned barrera, he had his number or barrera froze in his first big moment. either way look what happened in the rematch, he lost by UD. a rematch he should've had a tune up before, and hamed, warren, and team, were trying to take advantage of a young up and comer who was vulnerable.
what did barrera do after his second loss to jones???? he rebuilt his career by doing what he should've done after that first loss, and that was take a tune up, but barrera had to do damage control and build his career all the way back up.
and then by the time him and hamed fought, both were ready, actually ready to fight one another. that fight was supposed to be hamed's crowning achievement in the States, and he got chumped, and chumped hard. I was at that fight and it was hands down one of the better fights i've ever been to, probably the best crowd for sure, brits and mexicans chanting back and forth, it was epic.
all that aside, hamed thought that barrera was battle worn and just a slugger, and he found out otherwise........... never to fight again, because his fight after barrera, hamed got boo'd out the ring by his countrymen because it was a stinkfest, then to fade away into obscurity. barrera retired him...../Comment
