Whenever Pac's team is questioned about why they feel Mosley is the best option for Manny in the Spring, they bring up Mayweather-Mosley's PPV success. That's an extremely misguided perception though, they have to realize the conditions that were present. A) Mayweather-Mosley is a fight that fans have been calling for since around '99. There had been a long drawn out drama about who was ducking who.

B) Mosley's last fight before Floyd was a dominating KO of the dangerous Margarito who was the most feared welter at the time. So Shane was perceived as a threat to Floyd, even if he really wasn't, the most important point to selling a fight is public perception.
Same thing with Pacquiao-Margarito, the main detraction about that match in the beginning was the hand wrap scandal. Once people saw the size difference between the two, and saw that Tony was focused and in the best shape of his career, and also the expectation of a war... the public perception changed from one of disgust to one of excitement and anticipation. Plus the 8th divisional belt being on the line added some historical luster to the match. Also, Pac had unprecedented media coverage including CBS' 60 minutes.
So what exactly is there to sell with Pac-Mosley?
No one sees Shane as even a remote threat to Pac. He's almost 40 years old, hasn't won a fight in 2 years, gassed early in 2 consecutive fights, was dominated by Floyd and arguably lost to a reality TV fighter. So why should anyone expect anything less than a dominating, face-rearranging, possible KO performance from Pac against a Senior Citizen who will tire after 3 rounds?
There's no significant belt on the line, no history-setting precedent. With Berto, Manny would at least be fighting for a (own) record-breaking 5th lineal title in a unification bout.
So how exactly is Top Rank/Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions going to sell this farce?
I'm a Pacquiao fan, but I'm hoping this fight is a relative bomb. That way, maybe for his fall fight Arum will get the ****ing message. Then again, you never know how the gullible masses will react to the propoganda campaign.
