I see all this crap in the other thread trashing Pascal (I thought he clearly lost by 2 points), and saying how much of a better Canadian fighter Bute is. But really is it justified yet?
Pascal's performance tonight was ****ty yes. And only brain dead people like G doggy actually thinks he won. But what's with this **** over hyping Bute now that Pascal's star has fallen a bit?
Pascal, for all his faults, dropped a closely contested decision to Froch (who appears to be better than most expected), owns two wins over Adrian Diaconu, and then took the 0 from Chad Dawson before taking on Hopkins.
Bute had beaten absolutely nobody of note until he got his 'best' win with a UD over Sakio Bika...who while always a tough contender...is someone a top fighter is just flat out supposed to outbox. Since then, he took out a nobody in Alejandro Berrio, took out a badly badly faded William Joppy, should've actually been KO'd by Andrade (who again is a tough customer but has such crude skills that he should be losing 11 rounds to 1 to any top fighter), took out another near nobody in Zuniga, took out Andrade in a rematch, took out every top middleweight's favorite punching bag Edison Miranda, and then got extended 9 rounds by a clearly over-matched, couldn't even come close to winning the contender series Jesse Brinkley.
And now, he's still yet again taking on basically a nobody in Brian Magee. A Magee who holds losses to the vaunted combination Vitaliy Tsypko and Robin Reid. It's tough to blame him too much personally because much like Berto, his home crowd following allows him to get paid well for taking out far less than championship level opposition. I think his skills are good. Better than Pascal's in my estimation and probably in most. But until he grows a pair of balls and actually enhances his resume with quality wins instead of padding it, his fan base and handlers claiming that he's the best super middleweight far and away is a god damn joke.
