You must not have seen the fight, go watch it on YT. Gomez basically turned the back of his head for the entire last round and Vitaly was just standing there looking at the ref like "can you do something about this?" and then the ref stopped it. Watch it again, Gomez quit.

He did at the end, yeah. But prior to that he took the shots and proved that his chin was decent.

Man, people need to stop playing around here. Solis's weight is the only thing that will keep him around until the later rounds with Vitali. If he dropped down to 220 or something he would be too thin to win, too petite to compete, and too light to fight. Not that he will win either way. He is going to get mercilessly beaten. We've seen this song and dance before, its called Danny Williams and its fat and hideous.

Here, let me "ruin the ending" for all of you.

A few weeks from now Solis will come out talking about how he is going to beat Vitali, kill his brother, take his wife etc...

Vitali will say "I dont like you. You are the best boxer to ever live, but you are bad person."

Solis will then say he wants Vitali's belt and itll look pretty on him.

We will then be swamped with articles of how this time Solis is doing things differently. This time it will all work out etc...This time hes coming in in shape and he is training in high altitude etc...

We will also get articles on how Vitlai is slowing down etc...

Then the weigh in will happen. Vitali will be jacked and 250 and Solis will come in at 265 1/4th, absolutely pathetic looking.

On fightnight solis and vitali will meet in the ring, Solis will be making little punk grins and stuff. Then the bell will ring and Vitali will start punching Solis in the face. Solis will look confused as he continues trying to get close to Vitali, but Vitali simply punches him in the face and moves away. Solis will eventually get 1-2 shots in but Vitali will barely notice. This onslaught of jabs followed by the right will continue for 8 rounds until Solis's people throw in the towel or Solis decides the fight is over and puts his hands up and refuses to throw and just tries to survive 12 rounds.

After the fight he will say Vitali is a great person and the best fighter. Vitali will say solis has the heart of a lion and will be champion some day. Vitali will stand on the corner ropes and salute the crowd, the cameras and lights will grow dark and people on Boxingscene will all agree that Solis was a fat bum, some will say all the HW's will suck, others will say that Vitali should give Haye all the money and stop being a coward, and the rational people will say "Man Vitali is good"

So we agree then, he didn't take shots until the end as you claimed in your earlier post. Gomez quit in that fight, doesn't matter that it wasn't a quittage like Peter or Arreola, he still quit.

I am wondering if the Klitschkos hold the record for the number of fighters they made to quit outright.

Wlad: Chagaev, Brewster II in recent memory

Vitaly: Peter, Arreola, Gomez also in recent memory

There's a misconception that being bigger [in terms of weight] helps you against opponents like the Klitschkos. In reality it doesn't. All it might do is give you an extra couple of rounds. Klitschko opponents should be coming in as light as possible and trying to use their speed in an attempt to compete. Coming in like a fat ass is just lazy, and saying it helps is just an excuse for not having true self belief.

Earnie Shavers was one of the hardest hitters ever, and he was what, 210lbs? A combination of speed and power has the potential to cause a lot of trouble to the Klitschkos, as we briefly saw in the Herbie Hide vs Vitali Klitschko fight, and the Sanders fights. Coming in too heavy is just ******, and it is never going to work.

The beauty of it all is that he is 40 and Solis is 30 and Vitaly will still beat him. And Solis has some serious skill, he is fat and all but they guy was an amateur beast. So no one can say that Solis doesn't have the skills.

Against Vitaly, I am not so sure, barring the Byrd fight (shoulder injury), he has never had problems with fast fighters. The Hide fight people keep referring to, that was a slaughter of Hide, Vitaly never had problems in the first round, I am not sure what fight you were watching.

Wlad, yes, based on Sanders but Wlad underestimated Sanders and got caught, same thing happened to Lewis, TWICE. Doesn't mean that now there is a blue-print to beat Wlad based on that fight. That's what every fighter thinks but they find out that they trained all wrong for Wlad all along. They come in with a strategy to bomb him out early but when that winds up not working they don't have a plan B.

And you're the one telling me to rewatch fights? Hide clearly won the first round of that fight. He was dancing around Klitschko throwing quick lunging punches. Klitscho hardly did anything but keep his cool. I have to admit though, that Hide was very unusual in that he moved like a light heavyweight and had the punch of a hard hitting heavyweight. Byrd could never punch. If he could he would have been an ATG. And if Hide had a chin he'd be an ATG too.
