By Jake Donovan - Whether or not Christopher Martin goes on to become Prospect of the Year in a couple of weeks remains to be seen. Regardless of what happens, the San Diego-based junior featherweight became one of the more surprising stories of 2010.
Appearing in front of a televised audience for his fourth straight fight, Martin impressed his hometown fans with an eight-round decision win over divisional steppingstone Yogli Herrera in their chief support bout at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California.
Martin was in control throughout the bout, as is expected to be the case when a rising young prospect faces an opponent riding a ten-fight losing streak dating back more than two years.
