Comments Thread For: Odlanier Solis Beats Austin By DQ , a Very Strange Ending

At the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis (17-0 12KOs) picked up a ten round disqualification win over Ray Austin (28-5-4, 18KOs) in a WBC final heavyweight eliminator to earn an immediate shot at champion Vitali Klitschko in early 2011.

austin is a dumby...even after the point deduction & the knockdown i had it a draw through 10...solis puts his guard up & doesnt throw punches much like arthur abraham..vitali is going to beat him to a pulp....there wasnt one round solis through more then 25 punches & many i hardly counted 15...hes not active & austin wasnt doing that bad.if he would pump his jab & not paw with it he would have totally shut down solis...vitali will win 120-108 easily

Both appeared very tired by the mid-rounds. Solis appeared gassed several times after trying to KO Austin.

Several years ago, Austin maintained his stamina to the end of the 12th round, but tonight the 40-year-old appeared tired by about the 6th round.

Austin of course is old, but there's no excuse for Solis to be in such poor physical condition that he tires like that.

Yes, close fight, I had it a draw 85-85 after nine rounds.

Solis wasn't throwing much because he became tired when he tried to KO Austin early in the fight. He has a stamina problem because of his weight.

I had it 95-93 Austin after the 10th..........though I'm not sure Austin would've survived 2 more rounds
