Why doesn't Hopkins get suspected of being a PED user?

Steroids aren't just about power though. Steroids help to heal the body.
Its quite odd that people don't suspect a 45 year old man, an ex convict from the streets to boot,
as doing anything su****ious.
The double standards here are simply ridiculous.
If Hopkins wasn't an american fighter, he'd be getting criticism left and right all over this board.Comment

Your arguments about why Hopkins isn't using, sound eerily reminiscent to arguments used for another guy.Hopkins in comparison hasn't fought nearly as many times as Moore and Moore fought until he was 48 or 49...
Hopkins is rare breed of fighter, a true throwback.
And about gaining the muscle, how much did he weigh in on the day of the fight against Taylor? Remember he's cutting weight to make 160 and he was struggling, so it was easier for him to make 175 which was more natural of a weight class for him at that time of his life. He also hired Mackie Shilstone who's pretty much a legend in the game.

So, its because of his dedication to his craft with learned techniques and form,He's taken little punishment...
He has slowed down...he doesn't have the same stamina/speed as in his 30's...
Skill and experience is keeping him in the game...
I thought he lost to Jermain the first time, and scored the 2nd one a draw...and I thought he lost to Calzaghe...
he gets a pass right?Comment

Gee, sounds like this one guy who always walked around at 140-145.
Its just amazing to see why one guy gets a pass, and the other gets accused.

Several reasons.
Number one, he didn't get faster or stronger. Exact opposite, actually. He got smarter.
Number two, he can put on a masterful performance against certain types of fighters, such as Kelly Pavlik. He can also look his age rather quickly, like against Winky Wright. So, it's more of a styles thing then anything else.
Number three, he won the Light Heavyweight championship at 41 or 42, not 45. For someone past his age of 40, those years make a big difference. Even when he beat a relatively smaller though very live Pavlik, he wasn't 44 or 45 years of age. Nonetheless, in his prime, he'd have still beaten Pavlik. He was just a bad style for Pavlik, period.
As far as the large head statement.. both he AND Manny have always had bigger domes. What people notice is that as you get older, in order to excell at the top of your game, you have to come into the ring in even better shape. So, you're head is big or even normal sized, and you are ripped to shreds. If you're in relatively decent shape, lose 40 pounds, and tell me you don't feel like your head is fuckin' huge. And for a while there, both had to drop a lot of weight considering that they neither man really gets out of shape too much to begin with.Comment
