MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao wishes unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. well, hoping that the American fighter could quickly settle his legal troubles.
Pacquiao said during his 32nd birthday celebration in General Santos City that he hopes Mayweather could solve his legal problems soon so he could get back to boxing.
“Marami siyang mga problemang dapat pang kaharapin. Sana malutas ang mga problema niya para matutok na siya sa ring,” said current pound-for-pound king in a TV Patrol interview on Friday.
(He’s facing so many problems. I hope he solves them soon so he could go back to the ring).
Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo earlier reinstated an arrest warrant for Mayweather on a misdemeanor battery complaint for his run-in with a security guard over parking tickets.
This is aside from the domestic-battery charge he’s facing after he allegedly beat up his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris in front of their children last September.
Pacquiao had long wanted to fight Mayweather, the Ring Magazine’s No. 2 pound-for-pound boxer.
The fight, however, could not be made because of negotiation issues.
Pacquiao now has to choose his next opponent among former welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley; lightweight champion WBO and World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez; and WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto.
