When you consider that shot Demarcus Corley did much better against Maidana than Victor Ortiz did. It is possible that Ortiz was never actually any good.

I think Ortiz should just focus on something else. Boxing is obviously not where he belongs.

i still ike victor ortiz, i think he is pretty good. vs maidana he made the mistake of trying 2 **** with him. it ended up being 2 much for him and he started 2 fold. his lst fight with peterson ****** because of the style of lamont. its effective but it ****ing sucks 2 watch and im sure it sucks 2 fight some1 like that.

I think that you should focus on something else besides hating on Ortiz on a daly basis

The thing about Ortiz is, it used to all come easy for him. He was being labeled as the next Oscar. He started believing it himself. Maidana beat the brakes off him and now it is a long road back. He now knows he has to work for it. He now knows the accolades will need to be earned.

It almost seems like he does not have a true fighters mindset. It is hard to tell where he is in the head. Time will tell though. He is definitely a good fighter. He has good tools to work with. The question is how bad does it want it all?

IMO Ortiz needs a corner change.

Someone who can toughen him up. Joe Goossen seems like the right man to do it.

Ortiz has a lot of potential, but I feel like he needs a new trainer to keep him serious and motivated. In my opinion, it's a lot like what happened to Cotto after he left his uncle. He let one of his friends take over his camp, and it showed when he fought wild and undisciplined vs Pacquiao. Cotto was pretty much training himself and wasn't being taught anything new. I get the same vibe with Ortiz's camp that there doesn't really seem to be a very big trainer presence in there.

Danny Garcia isn't showing him anything new. He's pretty much going through the motions and going through the same routine hes always gone through. Throughout his entire career his jab and body work has lacked but he's made up for it with his power. You could tell he didn't really have a solid gameplan for Peterson and he couldn't adjust to Peterson's style.

Good point, he needs to toughen up, get back that killer instinct. Someone needs to push his limits.
