Comments Thread For: Kizer on Why Khan-Maidana, Others Struggled in Las Vegas

When a great fight occurs in the sport of boxing it has a definite effect that results in much lingering discussion afterwards. Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana was such a fight, as last weekend's WBA junior welterweight duel from the Mandalay Bay was chalked full of action, suspense and plenty of post-fight drama. Khan would edge his Argentinean counterpart in one the year’s better fights and people are now sizing him up as an ideal choice to face the winner of next month’s Timothy Bradley-Devon Alexander unification bout.

Agreed. Maidana put some hurt on Khan because of the simple fact that his punches are so heavy, but they are slow and looping. Someone with power and good snap behind their punches could put Khan to sleep again

I agree that Maidana is crude and Amir should have blocked/avoided half of the punches landed on him but Maidana is definitely not a slow fighter.

who are they kidding....why couldn't two of these fights be on the same card....at the Mandalay.....it would have been sold out.

Instead, people like myself...who will actually take the trip to vegas.....had to make a choice to between two cards just weeks apart. i chose not to go to either because of this.

i can't justify the whole trip to vegas with the fellas now unless its a big event e.g. any Pac or floyd fight or cards that have at least two good fights on them.

the OVERALL atmosphere and energy of vegas is definitely down over the past two years, there is no question whatsoever - and this is totally unrelated to the state of boxing. the city and the sport create such a synergy when the conditions are at their best. i KNOW they cant wait for Manny to fight there again, lot of ppl will come to town for that so hopefully it picks up next year.
