What happened to working your way up to stardom?

Pacquiao, Mayweather, JMM, Cotto etc. They weren't always cash cows. ****...Pac and Mayweather didn't even transcend into superstar status until they faced and beat Oscar. Nevertheless, they busted their ass off fighting top fighters, and climbing up divisions to be superstars. Cotto fought his ass off against the best to be recognized as one of the best and be a superstar. What I am saying is that you have to put in work to were these guys are in the sport.

Now it seems like we're being fed all these B.S so called future stars without even witnessing them put in the work. This is visible in HBO programming, and how they shove these guys down our throats. GBP does the same thing. What has Canelo, Chavez Jr, or guys like Victor Ortiz, and Robert Guerrero done in the sport to be mentioned as challengers for guys like Jmm, Pac etc. We've seen the fall of such trend though lately. PWILL, Aereolla, Angulo, Ortiz, etc. Guys who have been hyped as stars by HBO have all vanished either got KTFO our got exposed by better fighters.

It's just the way the sport works, it has always been like this. Today though with all the media outlets it's alot more blatant. Personally I like the way you can watch these kind of favoured fighters progress from early on in their careers right up to either getting exposed or hitting the big time. An example of the first is Jorge Paez Jr. An example of the second is Abner Mares.
