I have to admit I'm not psyched about Pacquiao fighting Mosley, but some people's rage on here is ridiculous. How many millions of dollars do you want Pacquiao to lose so he will fight Berto? What other fighter would do that? What other fighter doesn't take the fight that pays him the most money once he's established? (Isn't it really ducking when you take a fight that pays less to avoid someone else?)
It's especially ironic that people are so distraught about Berto not getting a shot. Seriously? The guy that fought Freddy Hernandez rather than taking a smaller cut against Mosley. (Even though I bet his total take would have still been more fighting Mosley.) Do you really think Berto would have looked great if he had fought PBF and Mora in 2010? Do you really think SSM wouldn't have gotten two wins fighting Quintana and Freddy Hernandez? I would only rate Berto as a slight favorite against Shane right now.
The people that are so angry at Pacquiao for taking the fight that pays him the most that they want to organize a boycott, are just as looney as the people on the other side that think Pacquiao is some kind of divine being on a moral crusade for boxing.
So,what ur basically saying is that Pacman should fight an old, faded, over the hill Mosley & get loads of credit as boxing's greatest active fighter, while other fighters have to fight & claw they're way against tough fighters??This fight isn't ppv worthy,it's garbage & no fighter should be given easy passes!!
I am a Pac fan but Pac vs Mosley wont be doing 1.4-1.5, it will be closer to 1-1.25....
Versus Berto, it will be a number closer to the clottey (750K) fight but most probably more than the clottey fight ...
It might be even lower than the Clottey fight... who in the hell has Berto fought? lol. Clottey's name is attached to Cotto, Margarito, Zab... but they might successfully market Berto as an undefeated young belt holder.
So some people's answer is that he won't make less money fighting Berto. I guess that's possible, but no matter how much of a scum bag Arum is, he knows about making money. He's going to want the fight that gives him and Pac the most money.
As for fighting for legacy, who takes less money to do that? Give me examples of established fighters that took way less money to fight someone for legacy? If you're fighting someone for less money than you could have made fighting someone else that's almost always ducking.
We wasting time even thinking about this. The only legacy fight out there is Mayweather.
Berto hasn't beat anyone and Mosley is old and past it. Martinez is too big and that leaves the little guys at 140 and lower who Pac doesn't want to face.
