ESPN: Arum - Marquez was Asking for double what he got for the Mayweather fight

Marquez is also with Golden Boy, but the company agreed to allow Arum to promote the fight without their significant involvement.

"But the problem with Marquez is the number he wants is so damn high and he hasn't moved off it, and that's preventing the Marquez fight," Arum said. "We know what he got when he fought [Floyd] Mayweather and we feel that asking for double what he got for the Mayweather fight after he lost to Mayweather is a little bit much. Maybe he doesn't feel that way."

Marquez was guaranteed $3.2 million to fight Mayweather. Arum said he also received an upside on the pay-per-view of $1 per home above 1 million buys. The fight did just north of a million buys "so his upside ended up being very small."

Manny Pacquiao is still deciding who he will fight next, but the date is set. The pound-for-pound king will return to the ring to defend his welterweight title May 7 at a venue to be determined in the U.S., Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com.

So, ACCORDING TO ARUM, Marquez is asking for what Mosley made in the Mayweather fight.

Did JMM Priced himself up before when he turned down a 750k rematch and went to fight John in Indonesia for 30k and lost?

JMM got a horrible deal against Floyd, even though it was his career high.
He should just ask for the same deal as what Margarito got against Manny.
3mm guaranteed and close to 6mm with the upside for doing similar number as PBF vs JMM.

he asked for $1.5 million when hbo was offering $1.5m total for both fighters.

one of the dumbest things jmm has ever done.

how can you turn down a 50/50 split of $1.5m? especially considering where both fighters were at the time.

JMM would add a few 100k to PPV more than Mosley, it would easily cover what he's asking for.
