Don't know about "for sure" but Martinez is the only one. That's "for sure."

Granted Montiel did not fight anyone really of note after Hasegawa, but I'd say that a win over the #1 at 118 and a borderline top ten P4P fighter is better than two wins over Clottey and Margarito.

        That's just my take though.

            Martinez hands down.

Even if Pascal beats BHop, I think alot of people will dismiss BHop as a shot fighter (though I don't think he's shot at all) who's stock went way down after the RJJ fight. Either way beating Bhop and Dawson back to back is insane.

Segura's dethroning of Iron Boy was something special, but won't be enough to get FOTY despite other solid wins.

Montiel has been a wrecking machine and his stoppage over Hasegawa makes him a strong candidate. I think if he would have fought Donaire this year and won, he'd be a shoo-in.

Lopez had a big year. He moved up in weight, grabbed his second division title, finished all his fights, and made the great Rafael Marquez (although past it, still game) quit.

All these guys are great candidates and I don't think Pac should be considered though I'm sure he will.

I don't see how you can't give it to Martinez though.. He battered Pavlik and won the lineal MW title and avenged his loss to the feared Paul Williams, by finishing him in the second by what's sure to be KO of the year.

Martinez faced the music and won bigger than any other on the list.

This is a re-post cuz I had the same debate weeks ago.

Jean Pascal- If Pascal win neither one of them would be better than Dawson or Hopkins.

Giovanni Segura- Neither one of them were as skilled as Calderon, and Segura stopped him. Segura also beat a sold fighter in Vargas in short weeks notice and stopped him which makes it more impressive. Segura went 4-0 this year with 4 KO's and one of them against F'ing Calderon man.

Fernando Montiel- Neither one of them were ranked higher than Hasegawa, And, now that Hasegawa is competing at FW just shows you how much bigger he was than Montiel who started at flyweight. Montiel has gone 3-0 with 3KO's this year and one of them against F'ing Hasegawa and has another fight this Friday.

Juan Manuel Lopez- went 3-0 against top 10 in his division this year. And, KO'd all 3 top 10 featherweights. Pac can't touch that this year
Montiel won his fight last Friday that made him go 4-0 with 4 KO's in the year including one over a P4P player in Hasegawa in Japan to unify the titles.

All these guys have a better case than Pac for FOTY. I would even say Floyd lone win over Mosley this year was better than any win Pac has this year. JMM win over Katsidis is better than any win that Pac has this year.

who should be named 2010 Boxer of the Year?

                  1- Manny Pacquiao
                  2- Sergio Martinez
                  3- Jean Pascal
Pac shouldnt even be a choice lol...none of his opponents were even rated or worthy enough to be considered a threat. The list should be:

                  1)marquez
                  2)sergio
