This has nothing to do with Race but everything to do with the ridiculous standards in boxing.

Manny is on top now...just like Floyd was and still is. People expect them to fight the #1 contender and best fighter available each and every time.

Sorry but boxing has never worked like that. They all fight for money, they all take on lesser opposition from time to time...it's just these brand new fans aren't use to it.

      You want an example:

Let's take Cotto. Floyd (#2 P4P fighter) faces him then people rip him for fighting Manny's left over and cherry picking. Manny (#1 P4P fighter) tries to fight a unification bout at 154 with him....dude would get blasteded beyond believe.

Yet Sergio Martinez (#3 P4P fighter) was in talks of facing him and it was the greatest thing since slice bread amongst 99% of the posters on here. What's even funny is Martinez was not only gonna fight him at a catchweight of 155 but also instead of facing Pirog, the 2nd best MW in most peoples eyes, he turned around and stated that no one knows who he is and there is no money in that fight....LOL

Not only that but when he was at 154, the second best JMW Dzinzurik wanted to face him and once again Martinez stated no one knew him and there was no money involved.

It's instances like this that remind me that all these guys are the same but Manny and Floyd get crucified for what others get passes for.

BTW I can name tons of ATG's that did this as well. It's funny how people turn a blind eye, yet are quick to crucify Manny and Floyd.

Slap in the face to every boxing fan when they give a fight to a fighter who lost and took a draw in his last 2 fights.
The last two were not either.

I would love to know how Arum came up with "an overwhelming number of sports fans would love to see Manny Pacquiao fight Shane Mosely". Did he take a survey? Did he conduct a poll? Of all the available possiblities out there, the overwhelming majority of people want to shell out $65 to see Manny fight Shane Mosely?? Really, Bob? How did you come to this conclusion? I say you pulled that crap out of your a$$ in an effort to make other people go along with it and believe that it's true. I'm not buying it.

And even if 80% of the PPV buyers are general sports fans and not pure boxing fans as Arum insists, surely that means that they all saw Shane Mosleys last two fights? A fight against FMJ, where Shane gassed after 2 rounds and was dominated throughout - and a wrestling match and borefest where Shane again gassed very early and only pulled out a draw againt Sergio Mora. If Shane can gas out against Mora, where Mora hardly threw any punches at all, how do you think he will fair against the always punching and moving Manny Pacquiao?? I love Shane but I really don't see this fight being very competitive, and I think theres gonna be a whole lot of holding goin on.

Certainly even a popular restaurant can sell people a bad meal a few times, but eventually their gonna stop buying it, don't you think? That's just my way of thinking, but maybe I'm wrong. Unfortuneatly, whether we like it or not, we shall see....

Side note: I really think the main reason we're getting Mosely over JMM is because Shane dared to walk away from GBP for a fight with Pac. Not only does Bob not have to deal with Oscar or Shaeffer, he gets give them a big ole middle finger too. You have to wonder how "overwhelming" Moselys chances would be if he were still signed to GBP.

Well apparently, Shane hasn't been fighting under contractual obligation with GBP for a couple years now. I think the real reason hwy he's getting the fight is because they know now for sure that he will lose to Manny.

Bingo, and they were not that confident before.

Mosley is more familiar to the general public but the tougher fight for Pacquiao is Berto.

Because he is young, fast, and a hard puncher.
