He will be around for as long as De La Hoy's delusions regarding him last.
He has shown little to earn a Chavez comparison. An Oscar comparison, as we review his career, is meaningless. He lost most of the big fights he should have won and history will praise him but he was a grade B pro pugilist at best.
Saul has 39 wins and is virtually untested. He tires down the stretch, has poor balance and requires a seminar in professional footwork. The Lovemore fight was simply a sparring session against a 40 year old veteran.
Put him in tough and then let us see if legendary potential is even a remote possibility.
This is De La Hoya promoting with the same tiresome acolades he appears to have stolen from Arum. When Bob gets wild with praise regarding certain members of his stable, he showers with unearned wording.
I will say this. Chavez Jr. has been in tougher and has shown greater heart. I don't know if Saul could deal with the passion and determination of a John Duddy right now as Jr. displayed in a true fight of the year contender. Therefore, they continue to put Alvarez in softComment
