Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez-Omar Nino is Possible For 2011 Clash

A fight between WBA interim-junior flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (27-0, 23KOs) and Omar Nino (30-4, 12KOs) is very possible for early next year in Mexico. The WBA ordered Gonzalez to face Juan Carlos Reveco (25-1, 15KOs) for the full title by the end of February, but there are complications in making the fight after Reveco broke ties with his manager for breach of contract. Team Gonzalez would still like to face Reveco if possible. Nino is being considered as the backup plan.

February in Mexico? That is great I guess he will be added to the Hasegawa-Gonzalez card along with Ao it would be a nice triple header.

I would prefer Keb Baas over Nino as an option. But, Nino is not a bad option as a replacement if the Reveco fight can't happen. And, Nino is not a bad fighter it just seems that he is not capable in beating Keb Baas at all.

I guess Keb Baas is being saved for Ioka.

I just want Roman Gonzalez to have a big year this year. Hopefully he can get Ivan Calderon later in the year. Without Giovanni Segura in the weight-class I think Roman would dominate this weight-class.

Maybe, because he is what 33 or 34? But, then again he lost Keb Baas who is the same age. And, Keb Baas beat him like over 10 years ago too. Maybe Keb Baas just has his number. Because, Nino has beaten better fighters than Keb Baas and recently too. But, yea he is at age in this weight-class where you pretty have a foot out the door.

It is still not a bad option if they can't get Reveco. However, I would prefer Keb Baas over Nino. But, it seems like Ioka is going to get the first shot at Keb Baas.
