Diego 'Chico' Corrales - Hall of Fame.

When is Chico eligible to be inducted into the Hall of Fame?

I think he deserves it. For all his flaws out of the ring, his marriage, going to prison etc, he was an exceptional warrior inside of the ring.

    Notable wins:

    - Took the '0' of future world-champion Gairy St-Clair.

    - Took Roberto Garcia's '0', as well as the IBF Super-Feathweight title from him, and his soul by stopping him.

    - Beat a Prime Joel Casamayor in a rematch to become a two-time Super-Featherweight world champion.

    - Beat a Prime, undefeated, Acelino Freitas. Made him say 'No Mas' and took his soul to become WBO Lightweight world champion.

    - Beat a Prime Jose Luis Castillo by 10th round TKO in arguably the greatest boxing round of all time in arguably the greatest boxing fight of all time (certainly my favourite). Became the Lightweight Lineal Champion and unified the WBO and WBC Lighweight titles.

    Accomplishments:

    - Two-time Super-Featherweight world-champion.
    - Unified WBO and WBC Lightweight world-champion.
    - Lightweight Lineal world-champion (May 7, 2005 - October 7, 2006).
    - Three-time, two-weight world-champion.
    - Fight of the Year 2005 (JLC-Corrales 1).
    - Round of the Year 2005 (JLC-Corrales 1, round 10).
    - Record of 7-2-0 in his 9 major title fights, including 5 KO victories.
    - 40 (33)-5 (3)-0 in his pro career. KO ratio of 73%.

    World Champions/Future World Champions defeated:

    - Gairy St. Clair, Derrick Gainer, Roberto Garcia, Joel Casamayor, Acelino Freitas, Jose Luis Castillo.

Lineal Champions/Future Lineal World Champions defeated:

    - Jose Luis Castillo, Joel Casamayor.

Died aged 29, but I feel as though his best years were already behind him having lost the 3 fights preceeding his death.

I think he's a future Hall of Famer, but I don't think he'd make it in on his first ballot.

    RIP Chico.

Probably HOF for mouthpiece spitting .

Still Castillo , Casamayor and of course Mayweather had the (much) better of him. And spitting the mouthpiece brought him his stoppage win over Castillo who still KOd him quicker and cleaner in their rematch .

I think the first JLC fight took a lot out of Chico. It was an absolute war. Even though he won, he was never the same. Maybe JLC took Chico's soul, even though Chico won...

Well to be honest i can understand how some people believe he shouldnt be in the Hall of fame because his career wasnt very long nor did he beat any true P4P "Greats", but i think he should be remembered for his fight vs Castillo which will go down as the greatest boxing fight of all time, if not, one of the greatest.

he was certainly one of the most entertaining fighters of recent times and gave it all in the ring. true warrior. still had a good record.

I disagree, he wasn't shot after Mayweather. His greatest achievements in the ring came at Lightweight after he lost to PBF.

Every boxing fan loves Chico in the way we all love fighters like Gatti/Ward....they were exciting brawlers and gave their all to please the fans...but if the boxing Hall of Fame criteria is legit at all, Corrales (and Gatti/Ward) did not have a hall of fame career to be eligible

but what the hell, they let the fictional character of Rocky Babloa in so there you go

Sly was entered into the HoF as an 'Observer'.

Countless world-champions over the last 30 years have been inspired to take up boxing by the Rocky movies. Sly definitely had a profound impact on modern boxing, he deserves to be in the HoF.
