I think Cortez is one of the best refs in the biz. He did nothing wrong in this fight. Maidana was throwing elbows and hitting Kahn in the back of the head for Christ's sake, WTF do you want him to do, let that **** go on?

It's funny how people were screaming he was getting too involved but then in the replay it showed Maidana throwing a clear elbow at Kahn....he picked up on that and did the right thing.

He single handedly ruined that fight.

He didn't throw no elbows man. And why didn't he pick up on Khan's excessive holding, or stop the fight in the 10th round?

Cuz' he's a bagman, thats why.

Also I thought Cortez did a horrible job in the dixon-balboa fight when 60+ year old balboa nearly died in the first round, should have stopped it

agreed there. who was that ref that did the calzaghe-manfredo fight? hopefully he retired.

The big fat one. I think that was Foster - he had no idea what to do when Manfredo wasn't throwing back and assumed he must be hurt but everyone could see Calzaghe was just handcuffing him and taking the piss out of Manfredo - Manfredo would have gotten more hurt stubbing his toe on a door. To be honest they're all like that.

Even the Mitchell - Katsidis fight. Didn't even give Mitchell the benefit of the doubt. The McClelland and Watson fights still hang heavily over the heads of British refs. It's certainly easier to get stoppage victory in this country from what I've seen.

Did you watch the fight or just want to blatantly lie to support your nonsense?

Maidana threw an elbow after the break and that's unacceptable. You want elbows? Go watch the UFC, this is boxing not some street brawl.

Kahn offered his glove, Miadana swung at him. Their arms got tangled up and Maidana proceeds to hit him in the back of the head...

I call it like I see it, Cortez did the right thing and Maidana was being dirty.

Maidana allowed some inside fighting but constantly flipped the script.
By far the biggest problem I have with Cortez
Maidana and Khan must have been lost in there, he was all over the place.

Maidana doesn't have to touch gloves with him man. Are you ******ed? Once the bell rings, he's supposed to kill Khan not be his friend.

He didn't throw elbows, Khan turned his back, offered to touch gloves and Maidana tried to deck him.

You're the one ignoring Khortez allowing excessive holding and letting Khan get beat up within an inch of his life in the 10th and 12th round and helping him survive.

Keep ignoring the obvious evidence to support your foolish claims.
