despite receiving vicious shots from one of the hardest punchers in the business, i'd say im impressed

but they should work out Khan's defense next time

he'll be a future p4p king in years time

    BTW, i root for Maidana

What I saw was that Khan was able to get away of most Marcos punches but with that one clean punch he was hurt bad. His chin maybe a little below then most but its not like before where a flush jab can hurt him

it was a great performance. a single killing punch spoiled khan's performance. however, on that fight shows how khan's chin can take a killer one.

I was very impressed with the body shot that dropped Maidana in round one. That is new shot for him and I felt took a lot out of Maidana and most likely took some potency away from Maidana attack in the rest of the fight .
Amir's chin is better than I could have hoped for. That was a surprise for me. I knew Maidana would connect often despite loads of posters saying he was too good a boxer to get hit.I felt that he would get KOd going into the fight but he rode a lot of those punches really well. He held up well when Maidana unloaded on him. A lot of those shots would have KOd a lot of good fighters. I have a hunch that the body shot in the first round weakened Maidana and he was not hitting at quite his 100% after that but he was hitting hard and harder than the other LWWs with the exception of maybe Ortiz and Amir took those shots. He took too many of them which makes me think that his defense could be and really should be better. I feel Amir is 2 to 3 years from being the finished article and needs to improve his defense and will get better but is good enough to beat the other LWWs.
This was a very risky fight and he did well to come through it the way he did and will go up a level as a result.
It will be interesting to see how Golden Boy manage him now and if they will set up meaningful fights which he is capable of taking or go for a cautious safety first approach.

Absolutley. He showed a lot of heart and a ton of skill. Impressed with Maidana too, he didn't get frusterated and just start swinging wild, he stuck to it and almost won. Great fight all around.

I was very impressed with Amir's heart, resillience and determination. I was surprised with the way he was fighting though. I did not expect that and just like Dominicano Soy said he could have made it alot easier for himself by using his superior skillset more.

I liked a lot of things he did in there. He made some mistakes defense wise, but i think it was a pretty good performance against a tough and willing opponent. He has a lot of talent at really young age. There is room for improvement, but i think khan gets even better with some more experience.

on paper, maidana is there to be out-boxed by anyone. amir did what he was supposed to do up until he got caught which is what i would really gauge his performance on. in that sense, i'm only impressed with how his chin held up. it's better than i thought but more importantly, he showed NO defense, couldn't fight in the pocket or going backwards, JC had to play bodyguard every time amir was exposed. his defense consisted of eating uppercuts and running back for cortez to step in and be his meatshield. his offense was expected, his lack of defense was a disappointment. he ran till the final bell to win on points, smart, but hardly impressive.

                    Definitely
Most impressed by his resilience in the 10th
Wasn't a fan of the gameplan, Maidana couldn't get near him when he boxed... as soon as he started going for the big shots, he was getting caught.

Khan out-landed Maidana in every round except the last 3 rounds.

Khan outlanded Maidana 162-62 in total punches in rounds one through six.

Khan clearly won that fight. If you want to be very, very generous to Maidana, he only won 5 rounds, max. Khan won 7 rounds, plus he scored a KD and Maidana was deducted a point for the elbow.

My score was 115-111 to Khan, and I gave the close round to Maidana.

                      I would also accept 116-110.

How anyone can possibly score it a draw or Khan by 1 point, is absolutely fucking moronic.
                      I agree with this post.
