  • Comments Thread For: Roach: I Thought About Stopping Amir Khan's Fight

According to trainer Freddie Roach, he considered stopping the fight after watching Amir Khan take a lot of punishment from Marcos Maidana in the tenth round of their fight. The bout took place on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Roach spoke to Khan between rounds and felt he was stable enough to continue for the remainder of the fight. Khan went on to retain his WBA junior welterweight title with a close twelve round unanimous decision.

That 10th round was terrifying. I never want to see Amir hurt like that ever again.

He didn't use his feet to move away from Maidana. He should learned from Pac who moved away from Margarito when he was really hurt.

If the fight was in the UK, I feel it would have been stopped, Khan just wasn;t throwing anything back at all...

Saying that, Khan impressed me and clearly won, and didn't go down or take a knee. Well done lad

Just like he was pulled out when he got knocked down by Prescott twice?

It just proved that the fight shouldn't have been stopped and the right man won.

you dont stop the fight that easy if it's the champion is getting hit, I would imagine if the challenger was taking the beating in the 10th, it would have been a different story

Khan did use his legs, just not very well because they were like jelly.

no s h i t he was scared, any trainer would have been but of course he was not going to stop it. freddie had to let the kid fend for himself and see what he was made of, like you all seen he weathered the storm and pulled through
