Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire Responds To Fernando Montiel's Talks

While Friday night's Amir Khan-Marcos Maidana WBA junior welterweight title bout at the Mandalay Bay may not have been as jam-packed as many would have hoped, with an estimated 4,632 partisans in the building, all one had to do was make a couple of rounds ringside to get a feel for all of the boxing personalities in the house.

Odd choice of a ridiculously titled article by BigPapa-- he must agree with that title. Big Papa must be Puerto Rican. BP, you'd call Montiel saying he was ready to show he was better "talk" and "verbally aggressive"? Talk is what WV2 the coward(like his dad) did vs the much smaller Ivan Hernandez. Talk is what the overrated big mouthed punk Felix Trinidad did before(and after) his fight with De La hoya. Talk is what the punk Wilfredo Gomez did before Sanchez whupped him. Talk is what Edwin Rosario did before Chavez whupped him. Talk is what Camacho did before Chavez whupped him also. Talk is what Juanma is doing now but that's all he'll do because he won't get anywhere near JM Marquez in the ring. Talk is what Morel did-- and then didn't fight Montiel. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I think the Donaire vs. Montiel fight will be a war while it lasts but ultimately I think Donaire will stop him in approx the 8th or 9th round, kinda like Katsidis vs. JMM. Montiel is a tough SOB but I think he might just be too small to hurt Donaire. However, it's about time Bob Arum does something with Donaire. Fighting on all those low level PPVs wasn't as good as HBO or Showtime exposure and now is the time to capitalize. Fight Montiel and win and there are plenty more high profile fights waiting for you....

like i have always said and of course all you boxing fans know, s h i t talking for the most part is normal. but all i know is when it comes time for the bout the s h i t talker had better give it his all and f u c k e n put up or shut up. but in this case i.m.o. fernando will not disappoint and nonito will not also of course. this fight will be an awesome start to the 2011 boxing year. both men are going to fight like the beast they are and good luck to nonito and fernando

I think both these guys would obliterate the 4 guys in the tournament. They're the purest punchers at these lower weights. Anyone else find it crazy that Montiel has been around for so long and only now does he appear to be peaking and getting big fights?
