            One factor is that Maidana wasn't getting close to Khan that easily, he wasn't cutting off the ring that well. As a result while Cortez did break them early a couple of times it wasn't really that many, certainly not on a Hatton/Mayweather scale. Maidana's best shots weren't actually the punches on the inside they were those wild unsighted lunges that Khan didn't see coming. I still think Khan wins, Cortez was biased but imo he didn't affect the outcome, Khan's movement and handspeed is too good.

                    Possibly, one things for sure, the choice of refs and judges still has too great an impact on boxing results generally but unfortunately it's a flaw with the sport that will never be eradicated.
