LOL, I know right? That was a close fight. I thought Ortiz had it at the beginning but he proceeded to let himself be outboxed. Kid needs to develop his jab and know when to mixed it up and when to box.

Yeah he has no idea how to mix it up, he either goes forward or retreats or goes sideways, he has no flow to him, like a 2d video game. If he can mesh everything he knows together then he should be ten times better. I liked Lamont for this fight Ne can agree to the draw.

I haven't seen the fight yet but you have to do pretty darn good to come back from the points deficit resulting from 2 knockdowns. The Pac-JMM fight comes to mind. It would be great though if **ALL** the statistics were provided and not just the ones given in this thread.

Ortiz lost the fight for himself when he got on his bike and allowed the much smaller fighter to back him up.

Lamont Peterson did what few fighters can do - he got stunned in the 3rd and went down, but he NEVER lost focus AND he listened to his corner in between rounds. Peterson was then able to counter punch VERY effectively for the rest of the entire fight. For that matter, Ortiz was the one who was backing up for most of the fight.

People who are saying Ortiz was robbed are blind to the fact that Ortiz really only had that one good round - after that - Lamont Peterson took over the fight and was the better boxer.

I personally think a case could easily be made for Peterson winning a UD. Peterson landed more jabs, at a higher percentage rate in all categories, and more total punches in the fight. Peterson fought HIS fight, and it was a VERY SMART fight. Ortiz was out boxed plain and simple after the 3rd. In my eyes, Peterson won 7 to 8 out of the 10 rounds and the punch numbers agree...

Ortiz was not robbed at all. In fact I gave him the 10th round and that saved the fight. Peterson won at least 6 and ortiz was only active in four. The first 3 and the last. I was a big ortiz fan, but he just doesn't have the heart. Peterson was hurt and anxious yet ortiz started dancing ala de la hoya. As soon as peterson settled in and landed a few counter, ortiz backed up. No one was robbed.

The people who are saying ortiz was robbed just don't understand boxing. They see Peterson get dropped "twice" (the second one probably shouldn't have been ruled a knockdown) and Ortiz stayed on his feet and that's all there is to it for them. Boxing is scored round by round and landing TWO JABS (I can hardly believe it) is not going to get it done.
