Comments Thread For: Results From Frank Warren's Card in Liverpool

In an interlude, one of three Smith brothers - Liam - improved to 6-0-1, 2 KOs, after a two-round destruction of long-time professional loser Matt Scriven (14-77, 2 KOs). Scriven was wobbled badly by the right uppercut of Smith, and referee decided that that was enough at 2:48 of the second stanza.

Scriven (14-77, 2 KOs) how in the hell is this man still boxing? I hope that was a typo with an extra 7. Got to give it to him a paycheck is a paycheck, and he must be good at what he does and that's losing.

Cleverly wasn't too clever tonight. He didn't look like even a prospective world class fighter. He couldn't adjust to Mohammedi's style at all. Maybe he needs a better trainer?

Not much much of an event in all honesty. Each fighter fighting tonight needs to be put in a world title fight in their next fight and Warren can't be carrying on with his protecting fighters bull****.

Degale done well seeing as he won the British title in his 9th fight. Hat off to him. I can see him leaving Frank Warren similar to Amir Khan and Hatton though.

Rushing a fighter is just a ****** as over-protecting them. Neither of them is ready for a world title fight, and Cleverly isn't even remotely close to being ready. They need tough learning fights against fringe contenders who can test them. They don't need over-protecting, but they shouldn't be rushed either.

And winning the British title is irrelevant - lots of journeymen have done that. What matters is that DeGale looked like a genuinely world class prospect against a tough but very limited opponent, while displaying enough serious weaknesses to show he's still a work in progress. He needs to step up his competition gradually against fighters who can seriously test him. He should not be protected, but nor should he be rushed.

Cleverly didn't even look like a potentially world class fighter tonight. I think he needs a new trainer, and he is certainly nowhere near being ready to fight for a world title.

Cleverley was terrible last night didnt get going at all, no jab, bad footwork and he was a second of the pace throughout the whole fight loading up a missing every time, he was lucky he got the win.

Mohammedi is a decent journeyman with an awkward style, nothing more. He will never get into the top 20. If Cleverly did fine then he will never be world class. But I think he does have the potential to be world class if he gets a better trainer, and judging him by that standard, he did terribly.
