Is Showtime taking HBO's place ?

I think in about 5 year or so we will all be turning in to Showtime for the major fights and no longer HBO.

I disagree. Yes, SHO is obviously starting to show good fights but the level of superstar they show, is so far lacking. I'd wait till we see a big name actually fight on the network. HBO is still leaps and bounds ahead of them because if you're a big name in boxing, you're on that network. I think we get way to caught up in SHO because they put on competitive fights between two dudes that are trying to get to the HBO level. I love both networks for boxing, they both give me different things for the sport and am glad boxing is thriving to have two networks show me good competition.

I'd like for SHO to be a competitive network to HBO, then we'd get a better variety.

I don't know about Showtime commentators but the HBO commentators are just a bunch of egomaniac c'unts who are more interested in showing off their own talents than commentating on the actual talents in the ring. The Sky Sports guys are 10x better at commentating on the fights and get the viewers excited while these HBO guys would rather finish off their anecdotes and then after a minute they will start to talk about the interesting parts in the fight. It is very exasperating.

I hope not. HBO is way better IMO.

            Showtime

Ian Darke is the best commentator. However there are good commentators at both Showtime and HBO. SHOWTIME Ferdie is definetly the man!

Showtime get better value out of their money for fights but HBO still have all the money and big fighters dont think Showtime will overtake them but they wont be too far behind

Eventually maybe, they are going the right way with these tournaments and they managed to get Pascal-Hopkins which is a big fight.

They also managed to sign Bute who has a huge fanbase in Canada if I'm right? His fight against any of the super 6 is a big big big fight.

The winner of the bantamweight tournament is a good shout too. They are closign the gap slowly, whether they'll ever have the type of money to draw the biggest to their network like Mayweather etc we'll have to wait and see. However, Showtimes model of boxing is much better than HBO's, HBO breeds greedy overpaid fighters. Berto got paid a million for fighting Hernandez.

I doubt the Bantamweight's in this tournament are getting paid a million for fighting world class fighters.

Showtime is better for the sport. Anyone who disagrees doesnt care about boxing.

HBO has fighters that they are grooming and cater to viciously, it's disgusting how they spoon feed the guys they assume are their next golden boys.

Showtime always seems to pit the best against the best, or at least try to. All favoritism aside. With thing like the super six in play, it really makes me wonder how much Pull showtime has over fighters under their contracts. Promoters don't seem to have as much strength as they would under an HBO contract... if they did, we wouldn't get have the fights showtime gives us now.

And this is why i think the bigger names seem to gravitate toward HBO. not just the fact that that's where PPV is, but the contract is probably more fitting to their standards.

Have you ever seen a fighter on showtime "groomed" by them? Lol.
Hbo Groomed dawson, williams, taylor, pavlik, berto to the MAX. Pretty disgusting actually.

At least berto hasn't let them down yet, lol.

Showtimes has better matchmaking,on a small percentage of what Hbo spends on boxing Showtime consistently has the better fights,Hbo is full of overpriced names.
