    Soft Heavyweights

Is it just me, or is it really getting annoying for men that don't have that great of a body to hold titles, or fight for them period? What happened to the muscle bound fighters such as Holyfield and Tyson, what the hell is this soft stomach crap with these guys these days. It makes you question if they actually commit to training like fighters did no more than 10 years ago

I mean, honestly, can you tell the difference from your average couch potato and these guys? Something has to change, why does every other division have only a few pound difference, but with heavyweights, sky's the limit? I mean, the guys are powerful, and some have skill, but who really has speed? That extra weight bogs them down, who knows what we'd see out of these guys if they'd break back down to the 210-230 norm

There's a reason the early champs are still the "greats", cause they MOVED. These mother****ers today might as well be wearing clogs, cause they sure as hell aren't using their feet.

I can respect the hell out of a fighter who fights between 200 and 220, but I don't like watching tree trunks anymore, it's too boring. PLay by play is useless cause all that's ever thrown is friggin 1-2

    Good stuff.

Not only do the soft-bodies show me a lack of gym-time, the low skill-level does as well.

They are boxers, not body builders. Alot of people don't have that type of body. I know people that are built, but have never even worked out.

I've seen ripped fighters that weren't worth a **** too.

Ali was not always ripped, he had more of a lean, smooth body.

Ripped muscle mass can actually hinder a fighter. I think alot of fighters become too large.

Holyfield was a much better fighter when he fought at 212 lbs. The heavier he got, the slower and less energetic he became.

Same goes for Tyson. He was most effective when he weighed 218 lbs. When he came into the Lennox Lewis fight at 230 lbs, I knew he was doomed.

Being in shape, and looking to be in shape are two different things altogether.

Let me ask you a question:

Do you think Lance Armstrong would be a good boxer?

Very true, not dis*****g that, but I was refering to prime holyfield and prime tyson, when their muscle didn't get in the way.

But today's heavy's? I mean, come on man, LEAN AND FLAT are 2 different things. Boxers don't have muscles like bodybuilders, I understand that completely, but do they have to look like springer guests? I'm just saying that, people that go over 230 are generally worthless to watch, compared to fighters before this era. The just stand their, catching a 1-2, or throwing a 1-2. Rockem sockem is not fun to me, I just wish they had a division of 201-230 pounders so I could see TALENT again. Any guy with a gut and a heavy bag seems to be in title contension these days, it's disgusting to me. Now some fighters I understand can't help their weight cause of their height, like The Klits. They are solid, but are usually above 240, that's fine, but they still breathe heavy after a few rounds.

My point is, I believe if you're over 230, another dision should be made for you, that way I don't have to watch 220's vs. 260's like bowe's last fight, what a joke.

And as for lance.....he did box, remember the commercial where they superimposed his body onto a knockout clip!?

I don't care whether this thread appears "gay" or not, I'll take any chance to slam this ***GED-DOWN division, & am always happy to see others who hate it as well.
