At least GBP isn't so embarrassed about their business failures that they need to lie about their revenues at every turn.

Bob needs to lie to Manny's fans about the TRUE numbers.

GBP should try and sign people with Charisma and attitude, DeGale would be a good signing

Most promoters get a bum rap. Oscar has yet to get over the demise of his boxing career let alone the floundering condition of his company. He has been living on the blood of Mosely and Hopkins for too long. They are taking the blows. HBO would not even pay out for the Pascal match. Golden Boy is indeed in trouble.
Arum's fiscal speculation is mostly based on Golden Boy's inability to go public. If he cannot promote his vision as a worthy investment, he cannot survive. That is simple economic fact and the reason most fighters never make more cash outside of the ring. Degrees in economics and law are definitive attributes. Oscar needs to go back to school, literally.
When it comes to knowing how the actual machinary of this business works, Arum is light years ahead of De La Hoya.
Bob is at the top of his game at 79 years of age. He does not need to sell anyone an under achiever like Saul Alvarez to make a living. Even though only 20, a seasoned viewers instinct can detect that the kid is missing something you cannot teach.
Simply go to the Top Rank web site and see how a pro does it and with whom.

that's right... these guys don't get it... you got a banking dude in schaffer and lyin' mofo in dela hoya.. arum is f*n liar and a$$ as well, but he knows how to sell his ****... even without pacquiao, Top Rank will survive and will be much profitable against any existing promoters... controversial fighters? mismatch? ridiculous catch-weights? in-house promotions? come on... arum's been doing it since the 60's... dude just knows his ****...

any ****** hitting on arum is just plain ****head and just needs further breast feeding

Top Rank dies with Arum..... hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Fact is, Arum at 79....is almost dead, and top rank as a company will proberly follow. Arum's had a great run and has nothing to be ashamed of.Don king soon will pass and that will be that also, his son Carl i doubt will carry the company. So no matter how many geriatrics beat their cane on oscar he is the future, and in my opinion the future of boxing looks bright with Golden Boy. Boxing continues to evolve from the mob, to don king, to slightly sneaky arum to a fighter run company in golden boy

                    Good post.

And Todd duBoef will not maintain TR's position/momentum either.

I was an Oscar fan, but I don't really give a **** about GBP, and while I much prefer the idea of "a fighter run company", I would hate to see them gain a monopoly or a controlling influence in the sport.

I am hoping that the demise of Top Rank will open doors for other promoters, and possibly even level the playing field a little. The goal should be getting the best to fight the best, more top fights, better under-cards with evenly matched opponents, all the while promoting a better level of competition within the industry.

And Arum is wrong, Schaefer has become a boxing guy, just like Arum did.

Schaefer is also one of the very best negotiators in the business, and a superb businessman. But I'm just not convinced that GBP will be the savior of the sport. Although ya gotta admit, Oscar has proved that he has a love and understanding for the sport of boxing, whereas snake Arum has only proved that he has a love for himself, and for money.

Time will tell if Oscar will turn into another Arum.

Hopefully in the future, all these promoters will be able to work with each other. Bob only does is it when it benefits him. Best possilbe fights, and public demand should be respected. Bob's latest shows have been directed towards casual fans and *******s, because hardcore fans know the outcome of the mismatches. Once that is over with, Top Rank will have no choice but to co-mingle with other promoters. Don't wish no harm towards anyone, but boxing would be better with out arum.
