Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. Going the Way of Edwin Valero?

    By Karlo Silverio III Sevilla

Both undefeated, but only inside the ring.

The parallelisms don't just end there, and perhaps the only substantial difference being one is still kicking while the other is, well, God bless his soul.

    And his wife's.

Both had run-ins with the law.

Both had inflicted violence against women. This fact undeniably made all the more cruel and detestable for the world-renowned and feared lethal power behind their fists.

Sadly, Valero proved the preceding statement as absolutely both figurative and literal.

Valero ended up in jail and ended his life—or whatever was left of it—quickly, right then and there.

Mayweather still has the chance to defend himself in court and avoid incarceration.

Valero's untimely death forever consigned his dream match against Manny Pacquiao to being just that: a dream.

Mayweather, on his part, seems bent to let the court of public opinion decide with finality on who between him and Pacquiao will emerge victorious inside the ring—albeit hypothetically.

The court of public opinion, however, will never be decisive nor authoritative as the real court and crucible which is none other than the exalted boxing ring.
    Valero vs. Pitalua

Here's hoping that Money will slam the break on the proverbial downward spiral of (self) destruction and start his ascend back to sanity, and on a lesser note, towards that fight.

Edwin valero had a drug problem, i think Floyd's problems have more to do with public acceptance of his abilities. He should do himself a favour and become more humble, even if it affects his money making power. The public would accept him more and he'd probably be a much happier guy.
