“King” David Estrada Speaks Senchenko, Berto, Canelo
Chicago’s David Estrada who recently demolished the previously undefeated Orlando Lora sat down with us to talk about all the internet buzz surrounding his name.
CBN: David, in recent weeks there has been a large amount of buzz about you facing the WBA Welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, can you tell us if there is any truth to this fight materializing?
Estrada: I hope so, I wish a mother****er would ….
CBN: So basically you hope that a fight between you and Senchenko happens?
Estrada: Yup
CBN: Many people feel Senchenko really never faced anybody of importance in his career, what’s your thoughts on that ?
Estrada: I feel the same … I feel the same way.
CBN: Many fighters from the United States refuse to fight overseas due to them not getting a fair shake, would you rather have the fight take place on neutral grounds?
Estrada: Yup, but if I have too and I will go overseas and knock the guy out.
CBN: Some boxing insiders believe Senchenko is tailor made for you, they believe he will fold under pressure, what’s your thoughts?
Estrada: That is what I know.
CBN: The World Boxing Association has issued several rulings regarding several outstanding mandatories in various weight divisions. WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko must defend his title against interim champion Souleymane M'Baye by the end of March 2011. Are you willing to wait and fight the Senchenko in the summer of 2011 if he gets pasted M’Baye ?
Estrada: Yeah it is not like I will be waiting for him, I gotta stay busy myself, If the opportunity presents itself I will take it.
CBN: Your name is constantly being mentioned, pitting you against people like Chavez Jr, Canelo Alvarez, Mike Jones , ETC Why are you always being mentioned but we never see any of those proposed fights materialize ?
Estrada: My name is always mentioned because TV loves me, I come to fight and I always put on a good fight, Negotiations are never made because they never want to put their guys against me, I am too much of a threat. I was offered Canelo but the money was not right and I am waiting till they raise that number.
CBN: Were you impressed with Canelo last performance against Lovemore N”Dou ?
Estrada: He looked solid, he looked like he just did what he had to do to win the fight.
CBN: Chavez Jr believes Canelo needs to fight the David Estrada’s of the world to prove himself. What is your thoughts on Canelo ?
Estrada: I think he is a good fighter and he record speaks for itself, it will be a great fight between me and him, the fight must be at 147 .

CBN: You recently acquired “Fearless” Fernando Hernandez as your head trainer, how has working with Hernandez improved you as a fighter.
Estrada: A lot, he sharpened up my southpaw stance, my last TV speaks for itself.
CBN: Speaking of your last TV fight, You demolished previously unbeaten Orlando Lora for the WBC Intercontinental Championship. There has been rumors you sent Lora to a early retirement, is there any truth to that ?
Estrada: I have no idea, I hope not.
CBN: David who do you want to fight out there ?
Estrada: Berto
CBN: Why Berto ?
Estrada: Cause, I want that WBC belt for one and for two I know I can beat him.
