Don't blame Arum, it sounds like Cotto is to BLAME for the Martinez fight fall-off

an excerpt from Dan Rafael's article yesterday...

Arum, who turns 79 on Wednesday, would not go in the details of their discussions but told ESPN.com, "We couldn't come to terms. I talked to the Cotto people. They wanted particular terms and Lou wasn't agreeable. Lou wanted to do a percentage deal and Cotto didn't want to do a percentage deal. Cotto wanted to do a big number for Martinez plus an upside of the pay-per-view. I do whatever my fighters want. If Cotto wanted to fight Martinez on any particular grounds, as long as I could make some dough, of course, I would do it, not even a question.
A week after talks opened to match middleweight champion Sergio Martinez with junior middleweight titleholder Miguel Cotto, they came to an abrupt end Tuesday night.

I don't see how it's a duck. Cotto isn't obligated in any way shape or form to fight martinez. If Cotto want's his revenge and money fight against Margarito, he deserves that right and no one should question him, imo.

Cotto wanted big $ to fight a bigger guy coming off a impressive win. He didn't get it. So he didn't take it. That's not a duck.

Cotto didn't duck they were discussing the fight but the promoters couldn't come to a agreement so the fight won't take place, so now he will fight Margarito and these time in a Fair fight

Martinez is now a P4P fighter but he brings no weight financially into a fight. Cotto would easily account for 75% of the gate and PPVs. I dont blame him nor Arum at all for not accepting DiBella's terms.
