Boxing fans clamor for a showdown between Khan and Marcos Maidana. Khan states he doesn’t care who he fights. Golden Boy Promotions – the stateside promoter for both fighters – insist that they want to build up the fight for the sake of making it a bigger event.
Maidana is given March date on HBO against Victor Kayo. Khan winds up facing Paul Malignaggi seven weeks later in stateside debut; Maidana agrees to a fight with Tim Bradley, reschedules and then pulls out altogether in favor of a hometown showcase against faded DeMarcus Corley.
Fans insist that Khan is ducking Maidana.
Maidana looks solid against Cayo, stopping him in six. Khan walks through Malignaggi, stopping the Brooklynite in eleven. Maidana gets past Corley, though the performance not particularly one for the time capsule.
With their schedules now freed up and a date available on HBO (Saturday, 9:30PM ET/6:30PM PT), Golden Boy decides time is right for Khan and Maidana to finally square off.
Fans insist that Khan cherry picked Maidana as an opponent.
Such logic appears to be par for the course when it comes to assessing the Bolton resident ever since he turned pro five years ago. [Click Here To Read More]

Im a maidana fan in terms of power hes only second in my list behind edwin valero when the warrior was still alive... i knew he was the harder puncher against the golden boy hyped ortiz and i knew golden boy made a mistake of putting victor in the ring with maidana because maidana's only loss then was an opposition hometown split decision to kotelnik and he had an amazing 26-1 with 25ko record which i dont know why gbp overlooked. When the fight with amir khan was being talked about i thought then maidana will definitely knock amir out .... but after watching amir fight malinaggi and toyed with him with his lightning fast power jabs i realized roach changed the way amir fights and had greatly improved his speed and power... so by the time the fight with maidana finalized i had a different view of it already even though im still a fan of maidana i think amir's fight style will put him in a disadvantage as i really believe maidana will be throwing power punches in the air and missing amir's chin early in the fight and at the same time maidana will be swallowing those power jabs that amir used against malinaggi that even a fast fighter like mallinaggi was unable to avoid... and by the middle or late in the fight maidana who has a durable chin... will be able to survive the khan power jabs but due to frustration and knowing hes behind in points he will be carelessly throwing much weaker bombs in search for a ko and in doing that he will be caught by a khan power punch coming in.
