Jirov says he will fight at HW and be a champ

    from **********.net

    Exclusive Interview: Vassiliy Jirov
    By G. Leon
GL: What's going Vassiliy? "Nothing, I'm just getting back from spending time on the other side of the world with my family. It was a great time for me, I had a lot of people stop me on the streets for autographs and things like that. Now I'm back home, so it's time to get back to the gym and get back to work."

GL: After your last fight with Orlin Norris ended in a draw do you finally think it's time you move down to cruiserweight?

Vassiliy Jirov: "I'm not moving nowhere. There's nothing like heavyweight and I'm staying where I am."

    GL: Why?

VJ: "Because I want to be a heavyweight. I am a heavyweight and I feel really strong right now."

GL: But when you look at the fights you've had at heavyweight and look at the fights you've had at cruiserweight, it's obvious you were a different fighter at cruiserweight. Why not move back down there?

VJ: "I'm ready to do it in the heavyweight division. I myself believe I can do it and the weight is nothing to me. It's just part of the game, I will prove everybody who thinks I should move back down wrong. Just watch my fights and enjoy them."

GL: When you don't destroy an old fighter like Orlin Norris doesn't that tell you it's going to be tough to become world champion at heavyweight?

VJ: "I didn't want to destroy him, I wanted to box him and I feel I did everything I wanted to do. Sometimes it's a funny game though and you know this better than me. I thought about what happened and dealt with it. Right now I'm back home in Arizona and it's time to get back to work. I want to get in the ring as soon as possible and start kicking some butt."

if he signed with king, king could get him title shots and maybe the title, but otherwise he has no chance...

Jirov is gonna be punch drunk soon. He's such an easy target to hit. And at HW? He better stay away from Tua and Peters.

toney is too small at heavyweight..his style isnt suited to being a heavyweight..he could get lucarative deals vs braithwaite or mormeck at cruiserweight..and he probably could beat both of those guys

I remember before Jirov fought Moorer how so many people thought he was going to to make noise in the division, there were alot of BS posters making Jirov out to be a serious HW contender...where are all of you now?

he wasnt even that impressive at cruiser. If he stays at heavyweight he will be the type of fighter that ends up being on the "fighters to watch" list. I am talkin about the new legislation that they are trying to pass that would make a new commitee that would review boxers that are either aging or taking to many shots,or wars, etc.... He would get knocked around by most of the heavyweights. After like two more of those fights the commitee would step in a force him to retire. Holyfield would actually be the first one on the list. But jirov will make that list if he stays at HW. I bet his next fight will be Audley Harrison.
