Marquez NEVER had a chance to land a third fight vs Pac

I've been reading a lot of comments about how Maquez "priced himself out" of a third fight with pacman. First of all, nobody had a chance to land this fight vs Pacquiao except Shane Mosley. Not Marquez, not Berto, not mayweather…. nobody but Mosley. I can guarantee that a deal with Mosley was reached way before Berto or Marquez people sent Arum a proposal. So Arum says, oh his demand was too high…. he said no and claimed Marquez priced himself out. For anybody who believes that garbage, have you ever "negotiated" a contract? have you ever negotiated a salary? So Arum did not respond with a counter offer?….. no….. he didn't need to, he already had Mosley down so why even negotiate with somebody else. It's a waste of time.

I do agree Mosley deserve a lifetime achievement award but this fight isn't it. Shane was a great champion at one point. I think for all boxing fans we all know why he landed this fight… because unlike Berto or Marquez Shane Mosley is a brand name and has been around for ages. The average boxing fan and PPV buyer hears that name and they think it's the Mosley from 10 years ago who is coming to fight. Shane was once a great fighter but those days are long gone.

Im not a Pac hater nor a fan. All I care about is watching great fights. Fights that when I hear the announcement all I do is count the days. Unfortunately unless you're a die hard Pac fan you can't seriously be looking forward this fight. This fight is nothing more then a tune up for Pac for then the fight against Mayweather around this time next year. Yeah that is what I believe, he fights shane then Mayweather later on in the year.

So saying Marquez is ducking pacquiao is very short sighted. Truth is Marquez could of asked for $10.00 for the fight and fight at 147lbs (which I think is foolish for him to fight at that weight) and Arum and the team would have still turned him away. I honestly don't think Pac is ducking him either, it's easy to see only Arum and Roach choose his opponents. Thats why after every fight when they ask him who he wants next he always says it's up to his managers etc etc. I think that is his personality, I sure he has the "final" say but no doubt he just goes by what Roach and Arum suggest. Heck this is a guy who had nothing growing up, now he lives like a king and he has Roach and Arum to thank for it so Im sure he listens to them… as he should.

So I have not read anything about a negotiation with Golden Boy for the Marquez bout. All I read "Arum rips GBP a new A**Hole over asking for ****** money for the Marquez fight"…. There was no "they go high, he goes low"…. nothing so that just gives me even more reason to believe NOBODY had a chance to land this fight with pac except for Sugar Shane. Money wise is the right choice but boxing legacy wise it sucks.

I hear a lot of people saying "well pac kills Marquez now"…. really?…. I agree at 147 Pac has A HUGE advantage so thats why I either say have this at 140 or just say forget a weight limit and have each guy come in at whatever weight they feel best at…. whats the difference? the catch weights are getting REALLY OLD.
Regardless people still mention the number 4 when it come to these guys… the number 4 as is 4 knock downs.. but I have another number for you… the number 1… as in 1 point…. that is all that separates these two. In two fights that even the most hardcore fan from either camp has to be blind not to accept each fight could of gone EITHER WAY. So Marquez deserves the shot….. too bad he wont fight for peanuts or be known to every average fan in America in order to get it…. the story of his life.

Pac's done with Marquez, and rightfully so
but this fight is great as opposed to Pac-Shane
Marquez dies in a 3rd fight, but it's his life, so let him
Pac should forget Shane and just silence the crybaby once and for all

            I disagree.
This fight could be a good fight.

Mosley is still better than Margo, still more explosive than most if not all fighters Manny has fought.

People should forget the fights against May and Mora.
Mora is MW and he went 24 competitive with a guy like Forrest.
            Mayweathe is Mayweather.

Style make fights, and since Manny is short and hittable,it's good for Mosley

A pac-shane fight makes sense on a business level.... and nothing more.
I guess all fighters take tune ups so this is no difference.

My point is Marquez deserves this fight. No matter how you feel about him, it is obious this guy is going to the hall of fame. Again I repeat there is only a 1 point difference between the two. In this sport that is HARDLY an advantage.

So you feel Pac kills Maquez now? well that is to be seen but if Arum and company would put his fighter to handle unfinished business instead of following the dollar bill we would find out... but I guess not

I see your point and I agree styles do make fights. Im a die hard believer in that so I hope you're right. But after seeing Shane in his last two fights.... I gotta say from here this is not an fight I see that has potential for fireworks.

All I know is that this fight I won't be paying for a PPV... I might stream it but I'm not coughing up my hard earned money on this one.

Pac fans would pay to watch him hit a heavy bag if Top Rank offers that on PPV.. I on the other hand just want to see the top guys fight other top guys. So While I do agree you make valid points I think the evidence on hand points to just another mop up... and it's a shame because there is a fighter that regardless is he gets killed in 10 seconds of the 1st round, he deserves this shot but wont get it.. and to me that hurts boxing

The way I look at it, its all about Pac looking good in these fights leading up to a possible Mayweather fight, and of course the draw is very important. Mosley presents little threat to Pac at this time and is a big enough draw. Pac's people or Pac said they wanted nothing to do with JMM after that second fight. I think its because Manny couldn't beat the guy convincingly so they said the hell with it and decided to move on. The fact that they asked JMM to come up to 147 makes it look like they are worried about another competitive fight. Maybe they will fight him when he starts looking old or loses to someone. I hate to say that because I'm a Pacquiao fan, but that's exactly what it looks like to me.
