Boxing is a very individualized game. When two guys get it on inside the ring, no family, no fan... not even trainers can help him while the action is on. No, not even race counts. Boxing is just two guys on top of a stage, bounded by ropes, trying to bash the lights out of each other. A handful do the job better and they become champions. There are even fewer who gain the distinction of being great. But from each race and from every corner of the globe, few become great and none get there because of their color or creed. They get there because of who they are--individually.

Just curious i just joined the ******** boxing forum and just about every member thought Marciano was more skilled than the fighters i named and that he could take all of their punches and he could knock them all out in one round.I just want to see what people of color thought about this.
      Thanks .
Marciano will beat all of them, via KO

Whites that have hidden racism in them will forever deny it and then argue in a racist way.

i'm italian just like marciano, but that doesn't mean anything, i like pacquio, i'm not from the phillipines, i like margarito, i'm not mexican, i could go on, race does't have to do with anything. marciano hit hard and he was a fighter not a boxer. and anybody who says he didn't have a good chin or couldn't fight i'd like to see you get in the ring with him.

(and don't bother pointing out that he's dead because i realize that, i'ts just an expression)

I personally don't regard Marciano as one of the 5 greatest heavyweights of all time. He was painfully slow and lacked technical skill. But he had 3 great attributes, in power, conditioning, and chin. He struggled mightily with heavyweight greats Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, and Archie Moore, all of whom qualified for AARP cards. A recent boxing article said that Marciano beating Ali would be like Vivian Harris beating Winky Wright. When Harris upsets Wright, I'll pick Marciano over Ali.

he meant rican as in "well informed latino followers of the sport" - had he said "mexican" ... then ... well, you know the negative connotation that comes w/ that word
