Oscar De La Hoya is easily the most overrated fighter in boxing history.

he fought everyone there was to fight, except forrest and winky, but that's still impressive.

but he lost every big fight he fought against elite opponents. I think people have a good estimation of him.

And, H2H match-ups really has nothing to do with placement in history...So even though I felt Tito won(even though I think it could of gone either way) if Oscar would have gotten that decision he would still be in the same spot...
Now he wouldnt if he would of gotten the win like he deserved againts trinidad he would be held in high regards. Just like hopkins gets a lot of props for ktfo trinidad .And trindad not so much bc that is the best victory he has on his resume.

He is overrated, even if he fought the best but he lost to just about all of them other than small old JC Chavez.

In his time he was a very good fighter who was competitive with the best of his era.

However now that he's been retired for a while alot of people have started overrating him bigtime, claiming he's a top 50 ATG simply based on how many great fighters he fought.

I'm not sure he deserves to be top 100.

The fact is he went 0-6 against every elite fighter he fought in their prime (Trinidad, Mosley x2, Hopkins, Mayweather, Pac).

His best win was Ike Quartey, which was a great win, albeit close, but not of the calibre you would associate with proven ATGs.

His next best wins were shot or faded fighters - Chavez, Whitaker, Vargas, Mayorga, Camacho.

And the Genaro Hernandez win almost shouldn't count as he made the career featherweight go up to 135 to fight him, and avoided him at 130.
