That was still fairly recent though so in a couple years maybe we will see a few more Brazilians in boxing, that got brought into the sport because of him.

Brazilian are also into basketball somewhat.
        I do hope so!!

They should get into the boxing game. Brazilian style would probably have good footwork since they are big on dancing there.

Like a bulk of posters said theyre into MMA, plus due to the poverty and drug stricken populations where they take up such sports, so many are malnutritioned that their ability in boxing is hampered massively.

I watched a documentary that showed how poor nutrition played a huge role in the development of so many children. Boxing a sport which is only striking requires good levels of fitness and strength, if kids arent being fed the right foods and nutrients they arent going to excel in a sport which demands natural strengths such as power.

With MMA its not only striking but also grappling and submissions, something which takes longer to learn and perfect than throwing a punch, and the best MMA trainers will tell you power is not the key to their sport, its technique.

I cant say for sure that research is accurate but I do take into consideration the youth in Brazil are highly deprived.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira, in general the athletic heroes in Brazil are people like the Gracie Brothers, Anderson Silva and Junior Dos Santos etc in MMA, so that obviously appeals to the younger population who may get into combat sports. Other than that, football is obviously the most popular sport over there...but in general for boxing, i'm sure there is a decent amount of interest and participation, just perhaps the level of coaching isn't high and as a poster above me said, the people aren't built for the sport because of the poverty etc.
