    Cotto/Martinez: Legacy

This hasn't been discussed yet, however in the event that Cotto pulls off the task of upending Sergio Martinez and wins the lineal title at MW, giving him 4 division titles and an astounding record in title fights, what will that do for his legacy, both all-time and as a HoF candidate.

What does this do to his legacy if he's on the wrong side of the win column? Go up, stay the same, go down?

Lets discuss the historical viability if Cotto is victorious?

There are enough threads about the size disparity and how Cotto is in over his head, so lets keep it on topic

If he becomes lineal champ at MW by beating Sergio, he becomes top5 P4P and in the future, a first ballot HoF.

He moves up in rank if he takes the win. Sergio is no joke. I pick first ballot hall of famer.

It would definetly make him a first ballot hall of famer.

I dont mean to get too off topic but, just imagine if cotto beats Martinez that sets Arum up for Cotto-Pac at like 155 or 156 for the lineal MW title. Im surprised Arum isnt willing Cotto to fight Martinez in order to set this up.

if cotto beats martinez, that's a pretty big accomplishment, but it doesn't make him an ATG. cotto might already be a first ballot HOFer... but I wouldn't put him in on the first try.

              martinez himself isn't an ATG.

It shouldn't be for the lineal title unless Cotto goes to 160. Winning the MW lineal title at 155 is ridiculous. Now, beating Martinez(the current Martinez) at 155 is still a very good accomplishment.

it'd be impressive if he beats Martinez but hopefully if its for the lineal MW title it's at 160 and not some absurd catchweight
