Roach said Khan would get the KO in the late rounds not inside 6. He said Maidana would be broken down by the 5th or 6th round. To me that indicates a KO or more likely a TKO around round 9.
I hope Khan gets knocked out. But in all seriousness, even before logic started sinking in these past few days, I've always believed that Khan could beat Maidana. On paper, he should. That KO he suffered was several fights ago, and it's not like he picked up Roach recently for one or two fights. I really think he's improved.
But hey, what do I know? I haven't seen his latest fights (other than when he beat up Malignaggi).
I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if he knocks Maidana out. I'm not discrediting him, either by the way. He shuts people up if he knocks out a feared puncher. It would also help if he's tagged and manages to regroup to show he isn't as chinny as everyone exagerates.
At the end of the day, we're getting a fight worth sitting at the edge of our seat for. A suspected chinny fighter with terrific boxing skills and pedigree to be a champion for years to come versus a rough and tough puncher who comes to fight and has yet to be knocked out.
Although this is the first true puncher Khan has faced since being knocked out. I just see him being to fast, skilled, accurate for the slow plodding Maidana.
Maidana is fairly one dimensional, and along as Khan dosen't get invovled in a tear up and keeps his defence & footwork sharp I see a Khan win & possibly a KO/TKO.
