Guys who are shook dont fight the comp he has in his career.
Cotto fights those opponents because they generate the most money for him, not because he is testing his bravery.

      b) buy out your contract for $750k then fight Baldomir (undisputed ww champ) for $8 mil then ODH (for 154 lb champ) for $25 mil?
Im not talking about that situation im talking about after Hatton and Oscar. Im not mad at Floyd for making money against Baldomir,Hatton and Oscar. But if he is really about that money and is an all time great it doesnt make sense that he would avoid Cotto in 07 when that was the money fight at the time and Pac now which would be the biggest money fight of his career. These retirements and vacations come at the perfect times it seems

Its a lot of revisionist history going on in this thread.,..lol. But Floyd vz the Top rank fighters didn't happen because of Top Rank's Bob Arum.

Arum is pimping the game and pimping his figters. Floyd realized this and demanded his worth. when Arum wouldn't agree he bought out of his contract and went on to make millions.
u can't say Floyd priced himself out of the fights with margarito or Cotto. Arum told him he couldn't make the $$$ he made fighting Oscar and he did. Arum is real pimpish and he will be a problem in dealing a fight with Floyd or oscar because they broke away and made more $$$ than they did with him and he has saw none of it.

Til this day, floyd still says that Arum owes him $$$. The cotto fight didn't happen because Cotto was too green and then Arum didn't want to pay Floyd what he was worth. Point blank period!!!

What you mean ''he had to take''? Floyd didn't have to do ****. Fighters and promoters have always done what they wanted regardless of what the fans think. Now had Cotto send him a contract offer then it would be a different story because Floyd would have to explain himself but Cotto didn't make any offer. How hard is it to tell your manager ''I wanna fight Floyd. Send him a contract offer.''? If he turns you down then you can talk ***** in the press.

floyd tried to get a fight with hatton and cotto when they were all at 140 both hattons manager and arum said that they were not ready for floyd then floyd tried to get a fight with them again when he 1st moved up to ww where arum himself said that floyd would have fought margo for 8 mil but he wanted to fight miguel and hatton and he wanted 10 mill guarantee.how did floyd price himself out when he wanted the fight at jww and how can he be pricin himself out if the same man who promotes margarito who was not as recognized as miguel was supposedly able to offer 8 mil for a less recognizable opponent

and in both of those negotiation u have to deal with Arum who has something against u and is trying to get in your pockets like he is his fighters pockets.

just think, mosley not even an option until he is no longer dealing with GBP. Floyd nor Oscar didn't start making crazy $$$ until they were away from Bob. Look at the tactics Bob has done in negotiations with Floyd both times. look at all the lies he has told and that BS deadline he imposed. he knew that was only gon make things worst.

bob arum is the problem. He made Cotto take short $$$ against pacquiao, put his belt up, and fight at a catchweight. LOL. U think Floyd was gon take that? C'mon man, all the fighters that Floyd supposedly duck is with what promotional company....Top Rank!

exactly , people act like arum and cotto were callin floyd out or even talkin about floyd as a possible opponent but they weren't,just because people wanted to see that fight doesn't mean arum wanted to make it happen

It was the fight that HBO and the fans wanted and the next big payday for Floyd at the time. It was the only logical choice and Floyd retired. Look at now the only logical fight is Manny and he goes on vacation.
