Damn right Cotto's team matched Bruseles with Floyd to test the waters before letting Cotto get in the ring with him. I think we all know what they thought when they watched that asswhoopin.

He was going to fight Margarito for 8 mil but wanted 10 mil guaranteed to fight Cotto after Marg. Arum was willing to guarantee 7 mil for Cotto, one million less than Margarito the lesser name.

he was never gonna fight margarito. he made demands he knew wouldn't be met. cotto wasn't a huge name at that point and he was still at 140! add to that cotto was still fighting on undercards at this point and floyd wanted double his previous career high to fight him. talk about pricing yourself out. then when cotto moved up to 147 and would have made him 2 or 3 times more than the 10 million he wanted he didn't give cotto the time of day and retired.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

Cotto has always been a bigger name than Margarito yet Arum offered Floyd less money to fight Cotto. Wasn't ready to sacrifice his cash cow back then.

Floyd never wanted a fight with cotto,,, he ducked cotto, Margarito, and every other good welterweight. He made a career of fighting small dudes at higher weight classes(hatton, marqez),, but now a tough small dude wants to fight and the biggest mouth in boxing ain't got shiiit to say,,,I'm tired of the dyk ridin for Floyd. But at least he had three fights this year 1 with mosley 1 with his baby momma and 1 with a security guard. At least cotto fights who ever even if no one thinks he can win. Cotto's resume craps on floyd's

what's the point of reading articles if you can't understand them? cotto was fighting on undercards in a lower weight division and floyd wanted double his career high to fight him. that is a fact. margarito was the number 1 ranked welterweight in the world and had been a top welterweight for 5 years.

the popularity of a fighter comes into play more in ppv revenue than it does in guaranteed money. when you have a less popular fighter that a promoter wants you to fight he will usually entice you with more guaranteed money because he knows you won't get as many ppv buys. this is the case here. a cotto-mayweather fight would have generated more money than a margarito-mayweather fight hence he doesn't have to guarantee as much. it's economics and good business.

let's try to think logically here. floyd prices himself out of a cotto fight when cotto was at 140. then when cotto moves up to 147 floyd keeps making excuses not to fight him such as he lives too far away, he's not a ppv star, hes not the CEO of his own company etc... add to that he would probably make 20 to 30 million to fight him which is much more than the 10 million he wanted before.

when you use all this evidence you can only come up with one logical explanation. floyd never wanted to fight cotto under any circumstances.

Miguel Cotto sounds a lot like **** Gore.

What he says is 100% fact. Mayweather's opposition since Castillo beat him back in 2002/03 has been the biggest bogus sham in all of boxing.

Props to HBO for overpaying this mutant to fight bum after bum.
