With King promoting and HBO covering I expect a lot of advertising over the radio, newspapers and all around Pontiac and Detroit. Dirrell/Abe got an okay crowd because of Dirrell, but no help from SHO. SHO didn't put anything in the Detroit News or Detroit Free Press, took no ads out on the tv or anything. I'm sure HBO will spend a few bucks and let the public know that a great fight is coming to town. I already got a few of my buds that don't watch boxing much coming to it.

Dirrel/Abraham did as many as Williams/Martinez, Marquez/Katsidis and many other big fights this year. People are talking **** even though they have no idea what they are talking about. The last big fight with a guy not from Michigan was the Tyson/Golata fight.Comment

Thats not saying much being that all of those fights had low attendences. Hopefully the people in Detroit will appreciate the quality of that match and come out to support this fight.Comment

Detroit is a great city. We have 3 casinos, a short hop to Canada who also has a casino and great nightlife. Good clubs, loads of bars, greektown and even things like Opera house. There's a lot to do in the city. We also have a huge metro population(top 10 in the country). And to top all that off we are such a proud sports town. All 4 of our teams have great history(well not the lions but they are one of the first franchises) and have always been supported by the community, so a big fight here makes sense. So to all the haters, I ask why shouldn't it be Detroit. Boxing will never grow if it stays away from cities like Detroit.Last edited by Check; 12-02-2010, 09:21 PM.Comment

You're right Pontiac isn't a beauty either but it isn't too far from real nice cities. Not too far from Royal Oak or Auburn Hills if you want to get your pre drink on. What do you think about the venue? I haven't been to the Silverdome since the Lions moved but it certainly will be weird going back with such a small crowd. There were so many better options imo but I'm stoked it's coming here.Comment

I think it is kind of a ****ty venue unless they move the ring to like one end zones so it is not to far from the stands, I always hate being on the floor since I am not tall but the only good seat would be on the floor if the ring would be where the 50 yard line was, I prefer to be a few rows up. It all depends on how it is set up to be honest though.
Will be funny going back there though drive by it all the time.Comment
