Because everyother hispanic person in the Unites States can talk about their familys struggle to assimilate into the United States while Ricans are born Americans and still cant get it right. Ricans wanna be like the Cuban, Mexican, and South American immigrents who came to this country so they just like to downplay the fact that they were born US citizens. So in otherwords they do it because they wanna be like us.

You're saying Puerto Rican people are upset that they're born U.S. citizens? That sounds like a pretty sweet advantage in life to me. Becoming US citizens was a long process and a really big deal to my parents.

Did you know that an American citizen can be born any where in the world. He does not have to be an "American"

Exactly! My grandfather and father worked their butts off to make a life for my family here so the last thin I would do is disrespect their efforts by saying "nah i wanna go back to Mexico".

Ricans on the other hand downplay their advantage of being born American citizens by talking about some make believe country called Puerto Rico.

Yeah and his parents need to be American citizens themselves for that to happen. But you're comparing apples to oranges because Puerto Rico is the United States it's not India or some completely seperate country! Puerto rico is United states soil!

On April 12, 1900, the Congress of the United States enacted the Foraker Act of 1900, which replaced the governing military regime in Puerto Rico with a civil form of governance. Section VII of this act created a Puerto Rican citizenship for the residents of the island. This citizenship was reaffirmed by the United States Supreme Court in 1904 by its ruling in Gonzales v. Williams. The Puerto Rican citizenship was again reaffirmed on November 18, 1997, by the Puerto Rican Supreme Court through its ruling in Miriam J. Ramirez de Ferrer v. Juan Mari Bras. Mari Bras,

Whatever it is, It initially was what America wanted it to be but to date Puerto Rico has chosen and Voted to be a partner, an Allie, a friend, and is United with America. So it is what it is.

Unlike other immigrants or migrants who fight like hell, run like hell, escape like hell and defect like hell from "their countries", then land on American Soil and begin to tell the world (some thru Boxingscene)
                      how great "their country" is.
