If you think there's such a thing as a lucky punch, (Roger Mayweather's voice) "You don't know **** about boxing". Muscle memory, instincts, speed, power, timing all play a part in what the ignorant call luck.

Even when someone lands a shot when they aren't looking it's because they know where there opponent's head is and have correctly predicted where it will be by the time the punch they throw gets in the vicinity of their target. If you have no head movement, it's going to be easier to predict where your head will be once you throw.

Calling Martinez' shot lucky is especially ******, if you've seen the first fight where he lands a similar punch in the first round that knocks Paul to the other side of the ring and continued landing similar variations of it from there on. The difference between that one and the others is timing and exactly where the punch landed.

Sure there is. Sometimes guys who aren't big punchers score 1 punch KO's on a surprise lucky shot. Some guys who are desperately behind on points come out of nowhere and end the fight with a big shot because they had no choice but to get lucky. I wouldn't classify Martinez' KO of Williams as a lucky shot though.

I don't think this is a good example. Basketball rings don't move. Its is not human, i can go on and on.

I can make a free throw with my eyes closed BTW

Lucky punches happen but Sergio's was not one, it was an intentionally well placed shot at the right time.

ESPN knows jack frost about boxing.

As much as I love Sergio, he knows his eyes were closed when he threw that shot.

Its more like taking the final shot from half court before the buzzer goes off.

Lol the guy had his eyes closed, head down. Just because he has landed lefts on Williams before, doesn't erase the fact that on that particular punch, Martinez had his eyes closed and head down.

It's not called a lucky punch, it's a punch you threw without knowing if it's going to actually land or not. Martinez was surprised himself, when he saw he knocked Williams out.

Look at Pacquiao's punch on Hatton, that was not a lucky punch or a punch he did not know was going to land.

I know you guys like Queloque, Spray, Mangler Jr, Jack, all wanna defend it about being a lucky shot cause that's your guy. But at the end of the day, dude had his head down eyes closed.

No. Punches are thrown with the intent of hitting and inflicting damage on your opponent. Saying Martinez hit Williams with a lucky pumch, which knocked him out cold, is ridiculous and sounds like something Burner would have made up.

And that was exactly how Martinez reacted he did.

He looked like he was surprised like, if he just made a 3 pointer from half court. Like wtf did I do, did I just do that?

Quite a few of Martinez's left hook counters were of him not even looking at Williams when he threw it. I think Martinez was more surprised that Williams dropped the way he did than say landing it.
