No, the weight also had to do with JMM looking sluggish.

Again, a simpleton can understand this, why cant you
if marquez fought berto marquez landing shots n combos as usual....they just would have no effect....i garantee he wouldve landed more than 20% of his punches vs berto!!!

Reach and range had more to do with it than weight. which is why Floyd would always be big problems for JMM.

'Boxers' in general make Marquez look bad, he has the ability to beat them but it makes it much harder. Look at the John fight where I believe he lost but regardless it's pretty close and he's obviously having much more trouble hitting John than he did against Katsidis, Diaz or even Casamayor who is also a counter puncher.

theres no way you believe this
..not even Marquez believes this...Marquez NEVER said it was the weight. he just said Mayweather was better...your telling me one of the best fighters this era is gonna be effected by 7lbs?..lol.YES 7lbs..he weighed 135lbs vs Diaz and 142lbs vs Mayweather.....rememeber he had the best training camp ever? remember he was running @5am and throwing boulders? remember he said he was the strongest hes ever been? remember he said he would knock mayweather out?

oh and BTW...Marquez threw more punches than Mayweather...obviously he wasnt that slow and fat if he was able to throw 100 more punches...

Of course it was the weight. Carrying that extra weight made him tire faster as well as being slower.

Have you ever seen a marathon runner who carries extra 7lbs and not make a difference to their times? They would of course be slower and more tired at the end of the race for good reason. Carrry an extra 7llbs

so I wonder why Manny can put on 12lbs and be able to fight @ WW? Hmm did Pac get slower or faster after jumping from 135lbs (David Diaz) to 147lbs vs Oscar? Hmm I wonder why RJJ was able to go from MW to HW...a 50 lbs weight difference and still be fast. Dont talk to me about a marathon runner and a boxer man. Marquez threw 100 more punches than Mayweather..how was he tired if he was more active? Was Martinez slower or faster after going from 154lbs to 160lbs?

ODLH also said he never felt better when training for his fight with pac. Hatton said basically the same thing as well as Cotto and Marg.

If 7 lbs wasn't such an issue, then why didn't Floyd fight Marquez at 144? Why did he even CHEAT AT THE WEIGHT, in spite of having the height, reach, weight, and heck, even AGE advantage? Don't forget also that Floyd had the advantage of STYLE in that they both are counter punchers and wait for opponents to come to them. So marquez couldn't fight the way he normally does and was forced to be the aggressor.

Floyd was NEVER a volume puncher. And Marquez could have thrown DOUBLE the number of punches and it would have no affect either since he'd be as slow as heck cuz of the additional weight.
